On May 31st I arrived in the Netherlands . The mobile home was standing ready to be packed with all our gear. Maxime and my good friend Aldair were already at Schiphol and we left for Limburg to work on the last details in and on the van before starting our adventure.
We parked our home on wheels at my aunt Pascale’s house and could get used to our new “house” for the coming 6 months.
Tuesday June 2nd was a windy day in The Netherlands and we went out to the Kraaijenbergse Plassen for some action. The water was cold but we all had fun.
The adjustments in and on the van to make sure all our equipment was stored secure and had the last check-up in the garage.
On June 5th we visited the Red Bull-office in Amsterdam. After a nice chat with Roderick Patijn we received 100 cans of Red Bull. (this will keep us awake during the long road trips and full of energy during the competition)
Team I Love Bonaire in Amsterdam !!
As planned we picked-up Taty Frans from the airport in Amsterdam and he and Aldair will join Maxime and myself on our first part of the Europe-trip. 1 day before we made a slight change in the route and we added the “Ronde van Texel” to our schedule before heading to the PWA Slalom Worldcup in Catalunya, Spain.
After a 2.5 hour drive and the ferry we arrived on the spot “Paal 17”, Texel, just in time for the registration and gain all the necessary information about this Marathon around the Island of Texel.
250 Catamaran and 30 Windsurfers were registered. Thanks to the family van Rijsselberghe we could stay in their backyard with our mobile home for a good night sleep.
Explanation of the course
Saturday June 6, skippers meeting at 08.00 am and start 10 minutes behind the catamarans at 10.40. Taty Frans and myself were ready to represent Bonaire on Texel.
Last minute tips from Dorian van Rijsselberghe
I had a great start, all went very well until my boom-rope broke about 10km before the finish-line. A bummer of course, I could not finish, but an amazing experience added to my list of events !!
Taty finished 6th and Casper Bouman is the winner !! Congrats !!
Now on our way to Costa Brava where the PWA Worldcup Slalom will be held from June 9 – 14th. From Texel a 1550 km drive. We hope to arrive in Roses on Monday-morning June 8th !!
