After a long drive (16 Hrs.) we (Taty Frans NB-9 and Nik vd Eerenbeemt ARU-9) arrived at Camping La Ballena Allegre in Roses, Costa Brava. Tired but happy we were on our destination to attend the 2nd PWA Worldcup Slalom.

Unfortunately the first night one of our bags was stolen and we missed masts and a sail. Luckily before the event I already arranged with Severne Sails and collegue team-riders to have 2 masts and a Reflex7 9.2 delivered to the event.  This saved me to compete in the light wind-conditions we were expecting during the week ahead of us. Ofcourse a super bummer but we kept the positive vibes going.

The day before the event-start we could do some good training and tuning and I was confident and all set for some good racing.

In elimination 1, the wind was on the edge in my heat and all riders had problems with the windhole
at 1 buoy. I finished in 7th place.. and this time 1 place ahead of Antoin Albeau (8th) 😉
Result: a 24th place.

On day 2, 5 heats were raced and I was in heat 6. I had a good start, but due to the light wind conditions on the course it got cancelled and the waiting-game started.

Early skippers-meetings to make good use of the expected tramontana did not work out.

3 days of waiting on the beach but also on the tennis-court to stay alert and active.

Finally on the last day the wind picked up in the afternoon and we could resume elimination#2 . My heat was first up, well prepared and a good start again, but the mast ruined it all. It broke between the start and the first buoy, a real BUMMER.
No chance to improve my 24th place.

Result : 36th place
Overall after 2 slalom-events : 25th and a first in Youth.

For the 3 of us it was packing the mobile home again and driving back to the Netherlands. 1 driver, 1 co-pilot and 1 sleeping. Non-stop !! Thanks Taty and Nik for the fun-times !!

The next event  I will attend is the “The Round of Texel” -long distance catamaran and surf-event.

Best regards,

Amado
