Dieter and I left Leucate by van on sundaymorning April 26, made a stop in Carros for a windy freestyle-session and began our trip in the direction of Podersdorf. We drove all day and night to arrive at my grandparents near the Chiemsee at 4 am. After a bit of sleep and a good Bavarian breakfast we spend the day exploring the neighbourhood.
We even saw some snow.
On tuesday we hit the road again to arrive in Podersdorf in the early afternoon. It was windy and we had a nice session.
Although the forecast was not looking very promising, everybody had their fingers crossed that enough wind would blow over the lake to start the competition.
On day 1 The single elimination started but only 2 heats were completed due to lack of wind. As usual the eventsite was set up great and this year the top 6 riders even had their own equipment storage tent on the pittlane.
With no wind at all the EFPT Chiemsee Towin competition started. 3 teams with 10 riders of with the best 3 could advance into the final. I was in the last group sceduled at 7 pm on day 3. In front of a huge audience I could land a fast burner and in the 2nd attempt I crashed an air funnel. It was a close call according to the judges with Adam Sims for place 3 and 4. I just missed out the chance to be in the towin final, but had a great time entertaining the crowd on the lakeside.
Day 4 started promising. The single elimination resumed and the heats started. But soon they got cancelled again. The wind was to light and patsy but we could go out for a nice photoshoot-moment with the photographers.
Another long day came to an end, but every night a lot of entertainment is organised on the eventsite so we all had a great time. It also was great to have my granddad visiting me here in Podersdorf. Unfortunately I could not give him the action he came for. Next time !!
Fun with the gang !!
The last day, no wind at all but the final of the EFPT Chiemsee Towin competition. Lost of people on the lakeside to watch the show. Congrats to the winner Kiri (1), Tonky (2) and Adam(3). No PWA-event result this time. It was time to pack our gear again. The bigger part of my gear will travel by car to the Netherlands where I will be arriving in about 4 weeks to start a new adventure. Soon I will be posting more details about that.
A little Vienna-sightseeing before leaving Austria ! 😉
For now off to Bonaire, returning home after a month of travelling around the world. ( Maui, France and Austria) Thanks all organisers in Podersdorf for the great time and event. Thanks to the photographers on site, my sponsors and a special Thanks to Dieter van der Eijken for taking me with him on another great roadtrip through France, Germany and Austria.
