With only 2 days of rest between the PWA Grandslam Sylt and the next event on the schedule, I arrived with a detour via Scheveningen for a wave-session at Zeil en Windsurfcentrum Brouwersdam late on October 11th.
Registration was done that same night to have a early start of the last stop of the European Freestyle Pro Tour. Due to new PWA-rules for top 12 riders, to give a chance to the young and upcoming talents in windsurf, this year I could only compete in 2 of the 4 events at the EFPT-tour. The first was in Neusiedlersee, Austria last april and now here in Brouwersdam, The Netherlands.
Overall still in 7th place and hope to improve that ranking a bit more and especially have fun with everybody and participate also in Slalom Fun race for a good cause : The local animal-shelter.
The wind was perfect and the day started for me with a short interview on Dutch TV.
Later on in the morning it was my turn to go out and run my first heat.
Via Khomenko and Bockler I could work my way up the ladder and met Rick Jendruch in heat 21 (quarterfinal). Half way the heat I saw Rick sitting and waving with 1 arm. I immediately stopped and sailed over to him. Unfortunately he dislocated his shoulder . I wish him and also to all other colleagues who suffer from injuries this season a quick recovery. Lot’s of injuries this year on tour, a windsurfer worst nightmare.
In the meantime the wind got lighter and condition were on the edge. Therefore I could not sail my best and Giovanni Passini was the one who beat me in the semi-final . In the runners-up final I was happy to execute some moves and taking 3rd place over Antoin Albert in the single elimination.
Good performance by Jacopo Testa in 1st and Giovanni Passini in 2nd.
With the first round of the double-elimination already done in the late afternoon , the day before the competition continued. Again light wind conditions and the top 6 women and men had to wait to get the right conditions in the last 2 days of the event, as heats got cancelled around 4pm.
At night the DAX-X Party was held at the Zeil Centrum Brouwersdam. Lot’s of spectators, visitor, entertainment and the night Tow-in show !!
Day-3 started with high hopes to finish the remaining heats of the double elimination. The south-westerly wind started to fill in around lunchtime and the first ladies heat was sent out to the water but soon it was cancelled as the wind dropped. The conditions were prefect for the Slalom Fun race, but as I was on standby for the freestyle competition I decided not to race and hoped to have a opportunity for slalom on the last day.
At 4pm the Tow-in competition started. The shoreline was crowded and everybody had a good time. 10 riders had 3 runs each and I was stoked to land a perfect double culo twice and triple air funnel.
One of the double culo’s scored 54 points and was honest surprised winning the competition.
In second place Francesco Cappuzzo and in 3rd JP-team mate Yentel Caers.
With food and a good party in the evening I was ready for the last day of the competition.
The last day of the DAM-X event was sunny and warm but the wind did not show up. Not being able to improve my score in the double the results are as :
Jacopo Testa in first ( EFPT Champion 2017), Giovanni Passini in 2nd and myself in 3rd place.
In only 2 out of the 4 EFPT competitions competed (due to the PWA Top12-rule), and with a disadvantage in the scoring points at the Dam-X event stil reached a 4th place overall on the EFPT tour.
