After a short break in The Netherlands , Hugo de Sousa joined me on the trip to the South of France. We met with my other JP-teamriders in Leucate and had some good sessions there, at Lac Ganguise and Carro before we arrived in Six Four les Plages .
September 29th , the openingday started with good wind, but it dropped fast after the registration and we all were on standby for the rest of the day. At the end of the day the offical opening ceremony took place.
Proud to represent Bonaire in France again !
Day 2 a tow in competition was scheduled and each we all had 3 runs. I could finish second with an air funnel burner. The beach was crowded and we all could give a good show.
On Saturday, the wind kicked in and the single elimination was a go. After advancing over Mercader and Mas , Team-mate Steven van Broeckhoven won our quarterfinal and made me land in the loserfinal against Antoine Albert. I finished the single in 3rd place and was happy about my performance and result.
Sunday was the last day and the wind was around 20 knots and we could start the double-elimination shortly after 12.00/noon. This time I was up against Julien Mas for 3rd or 4th place and could win with a 5.0 desicion by the judges. Local hero Adrien Bosson was the stronger one in the heat for 2nd or 3rd place. We started the heat and it got cancelled because of the wind dropping in the competition area. After a short break the green flag went up again, we both could perform some good spock-culos, burners, air funnels and lots of other power moves . The judges decided in favour of Bosson .
Event result in Six Four les Plages 3rd place. Steven in first and Adrien in second !!
My 3rd place was together with the results from
Lanzarote (3), Croatia (no wind) and DamX/Netherlands (1) enough to win the
European Champion Freestyle 2015 -title !
Super happy with this great result.
It has been a super season, with lots of travelling across Europe, lots of new experiences and friendships. Thanks to the EFPT/EFE crew and Six Four Plages for hosting this great event and off course to all my sponsors, family and friends for the great support.
5 months of cruising the highways to arrive at windy places are over. It has been perfect !! Already looking forward to the next season. Thanks to Ruben Petrisie for joining me on this last 1200km-trip back to The Netherlands.
Thanks to my family for the great reception upon arrival last night.
